About Us

About Aspen Grove Labradoodles

Our goal is to provide our clients with great, healthy family companion labradoodles.

Why Australian Labradoodles? When one of our clients comes to us and asks us what a healthy, good temperament, twenty to thirty-five pound breed is, we have trouble thinking of one that compares to a Miniature Australian Labradoodle.  We find them to be wonderful companion dogs with a temperament that is intuitive and wants to please.

We feel very strongly about screening for health and temperament and appreciate the genetics that directly affect these traits. We are a Gold Paw Award Breeder under ALAA's standards and all of our breeding dogs meet these standards.

About Marybeth Porter

My name is Marybeth Porter, and I am a veterinarian in Spokane, Washington. My husband, kids, and I love the four seasons. We can ski in the winter, go to the
Lake Coeur dd'Alene in the summer, and enjoy the beautiful spring and fall. It has been a great town in which to raise a family, and we feel blessed to live here.

Our History

We bought our first Labradoodle, Gracie, when my fifteen-year old, Paige, took a bad fall off her horse in December of 2006, breaking several bones in her back and pelvis. She had horrible pain and had to lie on the couch without moving except to get into bed at night. By the end of March, she was able to start physical therapy. We could tell she had a long road ahead of her. She always loved dogs, and I knew a puppy would be a great companion to help her through recovery.

I started researching labradoodle breeders, and I found Gracie's litter at Alder Creek Labradoodles. Gracie was definitely the high point of a very long recovery. Paige and Gracie eventually certified as Delta Society Pet Therapy Partners team where they volunteered at St. Luke's Rehabilitation Center throughout the rest of Paige's high school years.

I decided to take Gracie's daughter, Ruby, through the Delta Therapy class and as a team, we have worked at a local skilled nursing home. This was the beginning of a line of dogs, many of which have become certified pet therapy dogs and a couple of service dogs.

Our first litter was born in 2007, and we have one to two litters a year. We have made many close friends through our labradoodle activities and feel very proud of our puppies. What started out as a Mother-Daughter endeavor has been an enrichment for all of us.
